100 Day collaborative book

 

Cent, ce n'est pas beaucoup, livre et page d'élève

 

This book compares when 100 might not be enough and when 100 is way too much.  After much brainstorming students create their own page for a collaborative book by completing the sentence,

"100 ____ is not enough (ne sont pas beaucoup), but 100  ____ is way too much (sont beaucoup trop).

It was helpful to start by listing all kinds of little things that when gathered together still do not add up to very much at all.

I photographed each student's sorting mat and themselves with their mask.

The collaborative book page had these 2 photos glued in.

The students finished the sentence;  "J'ai 100 ________________. (kindergarten)

This passport of 6 different 100 day challenges has more explanation on the first page.  The passport works best if you begin some of the challenges a week before 100 day.

These are the 100 simple math problems we used to complete one of the passport challenges.  They are based on concepts we have already seen, one more, one less, the doubles.  We use number lines, 100 board or manipulatives.  We discuss strategies, which are easy, which can I do in my head?

I saw these creations at one of the schools in my community of practice.

They are a lens school which means that this particular group of teachers teach the entire kindergarten

curriculum through the fine arts lens.

The school also has a science lens program as well as physical education.

Here is a great class book I like to do on 100's day. Students need to imagine what they will look like when they are 100 years old and draw themselves. This always leads to really neat discussions!
